Following a recent windows update (12/12/07)Internet Explorer has ceased to function. Norton cannot identify any spyware or virus problems and a restore did not work either. Windows has not come back with a solution. Can anyone help ?????
This update, did you get it from http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us What did you download exactly? What did you mean here? Windows has not come back with a solution. What error messages are you getting? Brand and model computer. WinXP? SP1? SP2?
Download was an automatic update from windows,,not sure if this is where the problem stems from...the message when attempting to start Internet Explorer --- "Internet Explore has stopped working",,,,followed by "Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" Toshiba Equim running on Vista I have also "Opera" as a seperate browser but every download I attempt, the program tries to automaticaly open in "DOS" is this a setting error on my part,????
For now remove Opera. Could be in conflict. Then reset Internet Explorer. Here's the info for doing this. http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/81fe3b46-2460-459e-b826-8f134a7fe1771033.mspx Have you fully updated Vista? SP1, and SP2 Beta?
I'd say yes, if your computer is acting the same as HELPMABOB's. surely, worth a try, can't hurt. Post back afterwards.
well not exactly like Helmmabob but sometimes while i'm using the IE 7 (7th update),it stopped working and all the tabbed links i opened's gone.and i cant restore it as mozilla does...its annoying but i like IE more.any solution??
Could be a number of things. Let's start with a virus scan. Download HijackThis. http://filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/ Reboot into Safe Mode. Run HijackThis. Do a system scan and save a log file. Post the log here.
QuikDraw, thnx for your help.i just uninstall the mozilla and so far the probs hasn't occur until now.i'll be back if it still happens.thanx...
