Hi everyone, i have a pretty big problem, erlier today my friend was showing me this one site, and you have to install a certian firefox extension, that allows FF to look like IE6,(long story short) and ive been going around on a few regular websites with this one, and after about 20 min or so, my internet was very slow! maybe 1.4 the speed of averge. This is very uncomon, because erlier around lunch time, i ran a bandwidth test and i was getting my normal speeds. This was before i installed the pluggin. Ive ran Mcafee, reg machanic, lavasoft adaware. A few things here and there which they scanned, but mcafee found a few viruses, which is really uncommon for me. I think there is some type of virus that is using my bandwidth thro an open port, ive set my xp firewall to default settings to be sure it wasnt that, heres a SS right when i start up my comp Does anyone have this problem too? I heard some virus outbreak has been surfacing around, mcafee, and windows updated a couple times in the past 2 days. [bold]Any help would be appreciated, btw isnt there a tool that microsoft designed to remove these kinds of virus's?[/bold]
nvm problem solved, called verizon for the 2nd time, and they had a problem with a line, and they rerouted a line from another central office.
I know this has nothing to do with your problem, but you should look into getting a good firewall like zonealarm, which you can get for free at their site. www.zonealarm.com You have much more control of which and how programs are contacting the internet. The xp firewall is marginal at best. If you do get another one just disable the xp firewall, or you may have probslems.
