Hi Im wondering your opinions on this subject; I want to get out of using dvd shrink, and I heard that Intervideo is 2nd only to dvd rebuilder, whats ur opinions on this? I used shrink but the picture sometimes really looks bad
i have IntervideoDVDCopy3 and yes the quality is very good BUT there are many problems with the program. the most common problem i was having was the audio to the movie (doing the movie only) played the dircetors comments INSTEAD of the correct audio in some standalone players, this happened often number two you CANT re-author the movie (thats what causes the audio problems) number three you CANT control the burn speed (which is big for me) i only burn at 4X max. so all this makes it a sub par program in my opinion i even contacted Intervideo by phone about these problems and e-mailed them and guess what havent heard a thing back about it. iam convinced that CloneDVD2 with anydvd is the way to go (as most will agree in here) you can re-author,control the burn speed etc. and the picture quality is still very good both are a free trial before you buy and if you decide to buy type in "afterdawn" and save 10 bucks on the combo making it 49 bucks great deal heres some links on the product and users gudies http://www.slysoft.com/en/support.html http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html heres Intervideo if you want to check it out also. http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp
I have a better solution for you, and this is not a dig on you, aabbccdd! you gave very sound advise! but I like DVDFab Express, it gives you lifetime updates and you can choose just the movie (which is what I want!). The quality is good but I don't let it get below 85%quality or I will use DVDD and DVDRebuilder! I find the DVDFab Experss is great cause it lets you choose your own burn speed, too! I also burn at 4x only, now! DVDFab also lets you choose what audio and what subpicture you want! And the picture comes out great on my 52" RCA HDTV! It's simple, easy to use and straight forward! I even taught my brother who just started to burn DVDs how to use it and he is an expert at it now, and having fun with it, as I am!
I agree with the others who replied to this thread but still think DVDCopy3 is second only to RB/CCE for video quality but I have some work arounds for not being able to edit/reauthor or control burn speed. I use DVDReMake to edit my video folder which IMO does a better editing job than dvd shrink anyway because it completely removes unwanted extras, trailers, and previews instead of replacing them with a still picture. To control burn speed I make a folder on my hdd then select it as the target then burn the folder with nero at whatever speed I choose. I primarily use RB/CCE and still consider it superior to all transcoders and you can download rebuilder with the installer for free which has HC and Quenc encoders bundled in and do almost as good of job as CCE, especially HC encoder. Mort
mort..... you don't think that DVDFab Express is as good as Copy3 if you keep the quality to 85% or better? Hmmmmmmmmm maybe I should rethink all the backups I've been doing? most of them are 100% because all I do is burn the movie, nothing extra! So I find it funny that you say Copy3 does a better job....... of course the long movies I use DVDRebuilder Pro using CCE! I must admit that that is THE BEST OUT THERE!!!!!!
IHoe, I of course don't have every backup proggy out there and dvd fab express is one I don't have but of the ones I have or have tried DVDCopy3 produces the best video quality of any of the transcoders exluding RB/CCE (which is an encoder). I seldom do any backups that are less than 6500 mb. I like to retain the menu and some extras but get rid of the previews. I use RB/CCE for 95% of my backups but for speed and video quality you can't beat DVDCopy3 IMO. Mort
OK, mORT! You should get a copy of DVDFab Express..... it's well worth it! you'll be very, plesantly surprised!
I agree with Mort81 and the rest as well. I predominately use Decrypt/Rebuilder Pro (CCE) for long movies that reguire a lot of compression (I believe the best, yet my opinion!) and then second is Intercopy 3 Platinum (Great quality even with a compression number of 3 and that is watching it on a 16X9 55 inch HDTV. I'm big on quality! I also agree with aabbccdd in regqrds to CloneDvd 2/ANYDVD combo. Again great quality, just in my own comparisons (using Denon 2200, and Sony DVD Player...both progressive scan) the Intervideo 3 is more like the original by the sharpness, deep blacks, and vivid colors. I also agree that the Rebuilder/CCE is the Best! The installer for this prog can be downloaded at dvd-rb.com and after a quick lesson on learning you can have incredible backups. I know I'm new, yet I have learned a lot. I know the speed control is a rip on Intervideo, yet I just place it to HD and burn with NERO or Copy to Dvd. MovieDud
@IHoe, I also have Dvd Fab Platinum (and Express)...very easy, good quality and it is updated constantly! Good prog. for quick and easy backups. I haven't even used 1 Click or Dvdcloner 2 for many months. They, in my opinion, do not compare in quality! Just a quick question...has anyone used Procoder Express with Rebuilder pro? Just wondering?
MovieDude......... why bother with anything other than CCE and Rebuilder...... they are the best together!!!!!
IHoe, I Completely agree, I guess I'm kind of a program junkie and I like a couple of options for those quick back-ups (yet with the best quality!) 80 - 90 % of the time it's Rebuilder/CCE all the way. Lately the upgrades have happened very fast. I love Rebuilder Pro...just an amazing piece of software. MovieDud
MovieDud..... Rebuilder has the best support and it's complete! All the updates are great...... but I use DVDFab Express for movies that I just want fast, so long as the quality is at least 85% .....otherwise it's Rebuilder for me!!!!!
MovieDude, Since you have both DVDCopy3 and DvdFab which one do you think has the best video quality for minimal compression and then medium to high compression? We are all in agreement that DVDRebuilder Pro v1.00 RC5.1/CCE is without a doubt the king of the hill. Mort
Mort81, I just backed up one of my wife's movies, A very long engagement. I used Intervideo copy 3 (compression for movie for the entire disk is 3, and even for the movie!) Just viewed it and it looks very impressive. In my experience so far would have to be Intervideo copy 3 for both. I will use Fab express for certain back-ups,but for most I use Intervideo. It does have some issues with several Warner Bros. movies (when I do movie only, no problems with customize!), but the quality just looks more like the original than the back-ups with Fab. I use Fab over 1 click or cloner II! Again, this is all from my experienc and others on the forum might find that Fab Express provides a better back-up copy than Intervideo. I also not not might placing movies on HD and then using Nero. Others might not like that. I also like the copy on the fly with Intervideo (only works as long as the movie fits on a Dvd 5 with NO compression!) and you have 4x or lower media to burn on. MovieDude
ok Mort....... I like Copy3 too..... but let me ask you something else........ if the movie that I am copying with DVDFab Express is 100% quality, then that should be the same as on the Original DVD, yes??? So, if Copy3 has the quality for the movie as 5, and DVDFab Experss has the qaulity of 100% then it should be the SAME QUALITY FOR BOTH? YES? sO IT WOULDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF YOU USED ONE OR THE OTHER PROGRAM? YES? Or am I mistaken? I just like DVDFab for it's simplicity and it allows me to burn at any speed that I want, which is 4x..... so I just go with the easiest ...... SO LONG AS THE COMPRESSION IS 85%QUALITY OR BETTER and I don't use Copy3 if the quailty is under 4(which would make it 80% quality-since 5 would be 100% quality, 4 would be 80% quality) And I have a 52" HDTV too so I know what a good qaulity DVD looks like! Anyway to each their own! I just thought that keeping the movie 85%quality would make for a great copy! Unless....DVDFab 85% quality is different or less than Copy3's 80% quality! I thought quality is qaulity..... hmmmmmmm now i'm confused..... help me out here mort!
Thanks for your opinion. Thats all I asked for since I can't compare it to dvd fab. I used it quite a bit prior to getting rb/cce and knew that the video quality was better than shrink, recode2, clonedvd2, and dvdxcopy xpress. I agree it doesn't have all the features as some of the others but like I said I have work arounds. Its the fastest proggy I know of if your dvd or folder is under 4.38 gb and you burn on the fly. Thanks again and happy burning. Mort
@Mort81, Just a quick question. Have you used Procoder Express with Rebuilder Pro. I have heard that the Express is not very compatible with Rebuilder. You need procoder 2.0...$ I was just wondering. MovieDud
IHoe, I don't really have a credible answer for you all I can tell you is that all transcoders process files even at no compression and some may be different than others. One may have a smoothing affect while another one may enhance the colors. You probably won't notice any difference in most cases unless you have a side by side comparison. Whatever works for you and makes you happy. The only way to get a true 1:1 copy is to use a ripper like dvdd or dvdfab decrypter (which don't process files in any way) and then burn to a dvd5 if under 4.38 gb or dvd9 if larger. MovieDud, I've never used procoder express. You might pm sophicles or brobear on that one. Mort
