I just tried Ghostbusters with dvdcopy 3. I was trying to tweak everything to get a little less compression on the main movie. Dvdcopy kept saying that a 2 out of 5 was about good as I could get for full disc/one dvd-r. So I let it run. I must say that the quality looks excellent. I am very pleased and having tried dvdshrink for a long time and recently dvd xcopy platinum, I have a new favorite backup program. Not alot of buzz around these forums about Dvdcopy 3, which is why I was so impressed. Btw the program is pretty darn fast too, I think it beats dvdshrinks time with deep analysis and dvdxcopy. One more note. Tried Clonedvd and ANydvd. I did not like the results. Not saying they are not good, just my 2 cents.
dvd copy 3 is good, but you know what's better?? DVD Rebuilder and Cinema Craft Encoder. Costs you about $60 but better video quality than anything else out there. It takes a pretty long time to do a movie though. I usually have it do 3 or 4 at a time while I'm sleeping. I've heard good things about this program. But it is a pricey program. And I can barely tell the difference in quality with the various programs I use. And if there is a movie where I can tell a significant quality drop, then I'll run it through Rebuilder w/ CCE Basic.
I've had Cinema Craft SP for about 2 years now. For me, I have never had a movie that needed such "special" treatment. I'll agree that if you want to take the time Cinema Craft and Dvd rebuilder are the best. As for the quality of Dvdcopy 3, I'd say you're right about it being on par with the likes of dvd shrink and other one-click transcoders, but I think dvdcopy 3 may have the others beat in speed. Good Day!
hey georgia bo, did you do main movie only with intervideo? i have the program and stopped using it because it has given me so many errors in main movie only mode which is the only way i do my movies. i have gotten no audio, no picture, wrong audio, you name it. but when i ripp the whole movie, things come out fine. but i don't do whole movie because the quality drops.
I have not tried movie only. But I will tonight. I'll post results. However I did Ghostbusters which is about 7gb, whole movie w/everything and it looked great. Does doing movie only play fine in a set top dvd player? Most movies I could care less for the extras, so if they play fine in a regular dvd player then I might start doing mine that way.
i have never had a problem palying movie only copies. the quality is better for there is less copression. Be careful doing main movie only with intervideo. please report back. tanks.
O.k. I did a movie only of Assault on Precinct 13. Now everything went fine. Dvdcopy3 went smooth, then burned video_ts with Nero. Looks great on PC. Now, I put it in my set top dvd player and it read the dvd but when I hit play it did nothing. I ejected it, then hit play, the dvd player brought the tray in and viola it played. So i'm not sure if this is normal, but as far as the process and results, grade A! Oh, since dvdcopy3 won't decrypt a movie, I used dvd decrypter in file mode to rip. Any other methods? I wondered about AnyDVD + Dvdcopy3.
i guess you got lucky, i've tried to do what you just did many times, decrypter file mode first, then intervideo movie only and all i've gotten is a bunch errors. see you and thanks
oh, i forgot, i only left english audio only and uncheck all the rest and uncheck all the subtitles also. did you do that? try that and see what happend?
