OK, So I downloaded Intrepid Ibex and burned it to the disc. When I install it or boot into live CD, I have to hold a button down on the keyboard for the OS to load. It's not the disc because I burned it 3 times, re-downloading it each time from ubuntu.com.

No problems here. If you have a laptop chances are other people will be having the same problem and will be easy to diagnose. Otherwise it is probably either motherboard or video card, so search for anything about them. Or try the alternate install disc. If you at least get dumped into a command line read your boot logs, will probably give away what is failing for you. You probably just need to add something to your kernel line in your grub config to enable or disable something, what that will be someone on the Ubuntu forums would be more experienced than I.

My computer is running Hardy perfectly though. I took intrepid off for the time being, while I figure out what is wrong.

It's a "testing" OS.. so it is liable to be buggy. There are warnings about this all over the ubuntu site.. Follow the requested procedure and report your findings to the ubuntu bugtracker.

Your first post was most helpful.. "hold down a key".. which key?.. any specific one which may have a system or boot time function.. or just any random key?

Go read the bugtracker and see how many other people are having the same problem.. If nobody.. fill out a submission so the builders can see the problem.

My guess is you have the pretty splash screen displaying instead of the grub OS selection menu.. and whatever key it is will be selecting OS=2 ;)

To boot it up into intrepid, I only have to hold down any random key on the keyboard.
The grub OS select screen comes up, and it will let me choose which OS I want, but when I choose intrepid I have to hold down any button.

I'll fill out a bug report, thanks.
