I have an ilo dvdr04 and the only disk that will allow me record are dvd+rw. All the others either show disk fail or invalid disk. I have read about formatting the disk but can't see how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.
To format. Bring up ilo starting page. Hit edit button. Then use the pointer arrows to the left. That will bring you to the choices. Scroll down to the format word. Then it enter. It will format the disc for you.
That didn't work. I am still getting the invalid disk error and fail error message. These are new sony disks. Is their a program out there that could do the formatting?
There are programs that can format a disc. The ones I know about are EZ CD Creator ( roxio ) and I believe Nero can do it too, but I am not sure about that. When you use Roxio .........you use the Direct CD program and it brings up a screen that describes your disk and and there is a format button there. If you press it, the disc will begin to format. Using a cdrw will take a little longer than a cdr. I have not tried it with a dvd.....but I assume it will do the same thing. I have had great luck with formating a cd as I could put all my downloads on it and have programs on a disc that I could reuse if I had to redo my pc. My understanding is that your ilo can be hacked and you can get fixes for it by checking out this website. I have an ilo mu5. It burns Sony dvd+and - rs.When you insert the disc it asks you if you want to format and you can do it before you record. Perhaps you could think about returning your ilo to Walmart and getting an exchange to an ilo mu5. You find that information on the box where the scan tag is. Don't give up.
