That's microsoft giving me the middle digit as I try to reinstall XP home using an OEM disk and the product code on the sticker on the computer. This code is valid. The disk is from somewhere else. In the old days, (NT 4.0), the code key was not married to the disk, but to the processor s/n at time of activation. Anyhow, I get no workaround or ph #, nothing during install. Any suggestions on how to re-install a paid for XP, or why it tells me the key is invalid? Thanks in advance
The code is not conected to the disk. I make my own DVD slipstreamed disks and have no trouble. I do not even have to activate it again. Just put my old wpa.dbl file in the system folder. You could try one of these number to get you going. Have you wiped the hard drive? If not copy your wpa.dbl file and replace the new one after the install.
