Hi! I have a Ipod 4th generation (ipod photo) 30 gb. I bought my ipod in the end of march 2005. I have the following problem: My ipod wont turn on, if I press a couple of buttons, the ipod changes to the black screen with the white apple on it, and then changes to the sad ipod icon, and then goes back off. if I try to connect my ipod to my laptop (via Usb 2.0) the apple appears again, and then eventually changes to the black & white battery bar and the lighting. of course neither windows nor itunes wont recgonize my ipod. the ipod homepage says that I might have to charge the ipod approximately 30 minutes before it will be recgonized, but after a couple of minutes charging via computer the black screen with the apple appears again. after that the charging starts over, but it looks like that apple eliminates the charge, so I can never charge the ipod for 30 minutes. basically the same thing happens if I try to charge it via the plug in the wall/power cord. Is my battery broken ? if i want to set my ipod to disk mode it doesnt work either. I tried everything I could think of to fix it, but it aint working. My ipod is basically hang up in a reset loop, it goes from normal (asleep) to the reset screen to the sad ipod smiley back to normal. I cant charge it, cant plug it into a computer and disk mode doesnt work either. Can anybody help me ? thank you guys for every comment! Marv
well it seems there is a few problems. if its under its 12 month warranty i'd take it back to the apple store
well the problem is that I used to live in Berlin, Germany where I bought my ipod and now I am in the Us, missouri...
The sad icon, in my experiences generally means there is an internal error. Send it back to Apple (Germany or U.S) - as you are still under warranty, you are covered for all technical eventualities..
sorry for doublepost, i know i can edit. I wrote my problem here last sunday, but it solved itself, I just didnt connect the ipod with a powersource (pc or plug) and on monday the ipod came out of the reset loop and prevented nothing ever happend the ipod even had a fully charged battery thanks marv
