Ipod linux problems

Ok so the installation was going well until got to package part. The installer said it couldn't find something and couldn't get the pacage, I proceeded with the installation.

When it was done I booted linux, but in the browser ther was no music, photo, and other folders, font and graphics looks, plus there was a lot of x's next to many things in the file browser, please tell me ow to fix this, I already uninstalled linux. Crying or Very sad

it also said can't connect to mpd, how do I get the deamon and install it.

If i'm not getting something please tell me, I've been trying to muster up the courage to try this since the first realease for the nano, so I'm a (dare I say it) noob (there) in the ipod linux department, anywere else im literate.
