ok, just got my ipod nano, and was transfering music...once i was done, i disconnected it without "removing the hardware safely." now all it does it restart; it shows the apple then lights up, then turns of, then repeats. If i hold menu and center, it turns off, but as soon as i release it, it starts the same thing again. The computer doesnt detect the ipod any more when i plug it in. I heard somewhere that ipod servicing was $100! any ideas?

i own an ipod mini and something similar happened to me and to "reset" the ipod you have to hold the menu button and the play button at the same time for around 6 seconds(when the ipod is off) until the apple logo appears then it should boot up as normal. This resets the firmware and it might fix the problem.

Thanks for the advice. I looked all around the internet, and didnt find a whole lot of useful info (besides menu+select, which didnt work for me) I started messing with it, and found out that select+left is diagnostic, select+down is disk mode (useful, this is what fixed mine) and i dont know what select+right does. Hope this is useful for else anyone having this problem.
