i have a 15 gb ipod at the moment, but i hate apple & i tunes plus all the messing about i have to do with it
i have the option to swap it for a 20gb philips mp3 player, which is just drag and drop ( as mp3's should be)
do i swap or is the phillps no good?

or should i just sell my ipod on ebay i reckon id get £50 as it has a few extras with it ??

I had that same player just under 2 years ago. The design and looks of the player are stunning but that's unfortunately the only thing good about it. The software that came with the player was not user friendly and was very hard to navigate. The device ended up freezing completely so I took it back and swapped it for a 40 GB Creative Zen Xtra (now a brick compared to other players but still works and is easy to load songs onto simply by drag and drop).

Apple and iTunes is alot more user friendly in my opinion. But the final decision is up to you. You could always get a bigger capacity iPod or jus wait till something new comes out.

I disagree. The syncronisations you can perform are brilliant, especially with the ipod. You don't have to manually put new songs on once you add them to itunes.

But my other theory on ipod+itunes+apple is that it is a 'Love it or hate it' situation

I think u should either keep the 15gb ipod or put it on ebay and buy the iPod nano or the ipod video.

i find it hard to believe that people woud spend their money on an apple ipod when the other companies have come up to the same standards for memory size, compatability etc for a much better price tag!

I have a creative 20gig device and paid just over £100 for it from Richer Sounds here in the UK. very happy with the device. a friend has payed £75 for an apple ipod shuffle which has 1gig. no contest on where i want to spend my money!

EsirnuS, you make a very valid point there. There are indeed many better alternatives around that are techincally better. But iPod is the all out style accessory and a must have for those who flo' fashion.

And in a world of people driven by fashion, and looks - it is inevitability people are going to be especially extravagant when it comes to devices like the iPod......sad as it is

Apple sometimes rush the release of their products even thought they haven't passed quality control. Loads of Nano screens became easily scratched because Apple couldnt be bothered to correct the problem.

    Further to what weazel said...

a friend of mine succumbed to the glitz and fashion of an iPod nano and was told to purchase a case to protect the screen from the problem scratches occuring. Only to find that the only apple iPod case available for a nano has no screen cover!

If your more worried about how cool you look with your white ear-phones then buy an ipod - otherwise chose a player based on quality, value for money, storage ability, and compatability.

    Dont be a sheep!

I own the phillips HDD 120 (15G) mp3 player and I hate it...the damn thing freezes all the time and I had to take it apart to glue the buttons together cause they broke. One good thing about it is the price, I got it for $150...other than that I would say go for an ipod.

On to my question: Does anyone know of a program that will let me rip mp3's from the HDD 120 to my mac/pc? I have used ipod rippers but they wont work for the phillips player...any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanx!
