Someone brought in their ipod Shuffle from home & tried to connect it another computer. They keep getting this message: The ipod "user's name" is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with iTuns library?" The 2 choices are Cancel or Erase and Sync. Why does this come up? Any way of preventing it? Supposedly, the user only has music that was added from cds.
It does this because this iPod is installed on a different computer, so it has all the music from that computer. If you want it on yours, then you have to erase and sync the songs before putting anything on. But this will take everything that's currently on the iPod off so don't do this if you want to keep what's on the iPod.
Hi there, Sorry to hi-jack but my query is exactly the same as above. I have a Macbook and also a new desktop PC running Vista. I want to basically get my 30gb 5G iPod running on both so that I can plug it in to either computer, sync to both so that the libraries are always the same for whenever I'm working on each one. When I plug the iPod into the desktop I get the OP's message. Is there anyway of doing what I want to do?? Many thanks
The best way to do this would probably be to transfer the songs from the iPod to the computer each time. Here's a guide that will teach you how to do so: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/250743
