my son has ipod video...WAS using cucusoft but voice didn't match mouth-movement....now using PQDVD...voice/mouth is now synchronized but..
when i convert any movie I "stretch" it to the max ( up/down) because my son hates the black bars on top/bottom....when i look at the movie in itunes the black bars aren't stretched anymore....and....even worse...when i look at the movie on his ipod the black bars (top/bottom) haven't shrunk AND THERE ARE NOW BLACK BARS ON EACH SIDE OF THE SCREEN!!!! ( but not in itunes ).. ....so the movie in the ipod now has black bars on all four sides!!!....there are no black bars on the sides when using cucusoft but i just can't get the voice/mouth synchronized...help please!!!!!

Yes, you just need to change the video resolution. For audio lag, convert at 24 fps and it should help it especially in Cucusoft.

Don't use quicktime. Just change the video size before you convert the file.

Changing the screen resolution will do nothing for the issue whatsoever. You will need a program like PQDVD which will allow you to crop Your Videos before you transcode them, and still keep them @ the 4:3 aspect ratio, or 320x240.

PQDVD - Free to try, $34.95 to buy - http://www.pqdvd.com/download/pqdvd_ipod.exe (Trial gives you full functionality, but a limit of 5 minutes playtime per process.
