    Hi there

I was wondering if the new OS XP with SP2 is preventing the use of copied ...or should I say "backed up" versions of common software we frequently use. I want to take for example my copy of Office XP, which installed fine with one pc that had an older version of Xp before the SP2 update .. and now Im trying to use it on a different PC (parents) that has an OEM WINXP OS with SP2. And the auto installer just doesnt want to cooperate with me at all. It asks me to contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package. has anyone come across something like this aswell?

microsoft has an auto verification thingy now

so when you try to use windows update it checks your software to see if it is a legal copy, if not it shuts down.

whether or not this passes over to MS office installation i dont know. you probably wouldnt be able to update it if you managed to install it.

you could always buy MS office.
    or
use the ones installed with xp.

    failing that

im sure there is a fix on the net somewhere.
