I've had Nero 8 Ultra Edition for nearly 9 months now and it's never given me any problems. I've always been able to download movies, burn them and even burn them on DVDs as a file for futher use. So on Dec. 27, 2008 my computer started acting weird (Slowing down and crashing a lot) so I decided to delete every program on my computer and do a DESTRUCTIVE Recovery to bring my computer back to factory quility. I downloaded Nero Cleantool for version 8 and Deleted my Nero. Once I got my computer working again and I reinstalled Nero I did an update on it to download the lastest programs included with it. For some reason (Thank god) I can still burn music and movies using Nero Vision 5, But whenever I try using Nero Express to burn a DATA to a DVD or CD the burner would start the download at 16X, download to about 5% and then crash. I keep getting this message "Write Error K: Sony DVD RW DRU 830A" which usually happens around 5% or 7% of downloading. Also right before getting this message my burner for some reason start speeding up as if it's burning data when it hadn't even finish downloading it. I've gone to every site to look for an answer and received one from someone who advised me to slow down my burner. Now when I try burning DATA it could take up to 5 hours to complete instead of the usual 15-20 minutes it use to take to burn the same amount of DATA. Does this have anything to do with my NERO system or is it my SONY External DVD RW burner? Why is it doing this now? What can I do to fix this? Should I buy another Burner or will it end up doing the same thing because there's nothing wrong with the one I have right now! Try burning the data with Imgburn. Run Imgburn and choose 'Write files/folders to disc'. Click on the 'Device' tab to set the speed to half the maximum on the package or 4x. If you wish, you can check the 'Test' box and it will do a simulated burn (blank DVD in the burner - but no actual burning takes place). Hi.How strange, i had an almost identical problem but using clonedvd.Great for ages then all of a sudden it would throw up media errors and the like.Nero would do the same.I was using ty discs that ive used for years and out of several thousand only had a few duff ones.I started to doubt my media after i tried everything you could think of...uninstalling ide controllers, flashing the bios, uninstalling everything i could....still nothing would burn...id get 5% if i was lucky and then the disc would be spat out.I then suspected my motherboard, so i cleared cmos and reinstalled the drivers.Still no go, so i questioned my burners, but no way could three fail at the same time.So I tried imgburn as suggested and yes this worked fine, so i knew it wasnt a burner problem.Did a clean reinstall of xp and hey presto, everything works.And im using the same stack of discs that i thought might be dicky.SO.Its not necessarily your media, or your burner.Ill be damned if i knew what caused the problem.But maybe another reformat/reinstall after clearing cmos and checking bios/reinstalling mobo drivers?Is your ASPI ok?
