Just curious, let's say someone went through the trouble of designing a great program that he distibuted freely. The inventor was stopped from doing this anymore, I'm assuming by some legal threat or action. Now, some other guy starts making copies and selling them on ebay. Is that just un-cool, or a smart, quick way to earn some extra cash.
it's uncool, and unless the guy selling the program has written permission from the guy that holds the copyright, it's illegal in all developed nations.
That's what I thought. At first I thought maybe it was the creator I was emailing. I asked, is that the original program and a new release? Reply was it's a great program blah blah blah. I'm still thinking maybe he's the originator so I asked what version it was and I didn't get an answer so I sent another reply to his answer asking if it was version xx (final version before it was removed) and finally he replied yes. He's selling it for 3.99. Pretty tacky.
if it's on ebay, report him. if he can't provide proof to his permission to sell the program, they'll take legal action against him.
I'm afraid to report him because he knows my email address now. Go check him out if you like, he's selling dvd decrypter, who knows, maybe he is the author but judging from his emails I don't think so. 250142469899 320137609041-new guy selling it too. I just brought it in here because I thought maybe the author comes here or knows someone in here. He obviously put a lot into the program, took heat for it, now some guy who can burn cd's is profiting from the sweat of the owner. I really liked that program.
agreed ^^^ selling freeware, especially freeware that is illegal to use in the US, is disgusting and he should be in trouble.
I tried to report both of them, but the IDIOTS at ebay and paypal, want you to signup with them, to send them a message! I'm not interested in either one, so someone else will have to report them.............
