To convert HD or Blu-ray material into vobs but retain the same quality.

I am getting my p*3 this friday and would love to see if it works ok.

I know it will probs use a few discs and involve swapping them over, but i dont mind that.

Apologies if this has been answered already, TIA

I take it you want to convert 1080p material to DVD format VOB files. If you do this you won't be able to retain the original quality since DVD VOB files are by spec 480i. The only way to retain 1080p quality is to burn them as HD-DVD or BluRay.

I've been able to burn HD-DVD format discs from 1080i sources using this guide:

    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=705146

The resulting discs are playable on my HD-DVD player and outputs at 1080i.

I imagine BluRay authoring and burning would be similar.

if you are getting a PS3 it is also possible to upgrade the HDD and then put all your blu-ray films onto the HDD whilst keeping the original quality and then booting from there. if that is an option for you?

    thanks
