Is it the motherboard?

    Hi, Ive got my pc set up with win xp but everything i install goes corrupt. I tried installing a fresh os,both xp and win 7 but always near the end i get bsod.Ive tried differnet hard drives both sata and ide and the ram is fairly new so it shouldnt be that.All i can put it down to is proccesor or motherboard. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    try different ram as even brand new ram can go bad as it happened to me a couple of times on brand new systems. have you tried a different rom drive?

    Ive tried using internal and external dvd drives and ive tried taking one stick out and trying just one at a time and it still does it.

    The next testing steps:
    1.) Make sure it is not a heat issue. In your bios, you should be able to see the CPU temp. You can also open the case and gently touch the CPU, GPU, and chipset coolers to make sure they are not overheating (note: higher-end GPUs are always burning hot; do not touch!)
    2.) Run a surface scan on the hard drive.
