Strictly from a gaming perspective, is it worth upgrading from a 2200+ to a 2600? I plan on selling the 2200+ afterwards on ebay. My current specs are:

    AMD XP 2200+, Geforce 4 Ti4200 64MB, 1 stick of 512MB PC2100 Generic RAM, and a Via chipset Mobo(KMT266), 80 Gig Maxtor 5200RPM.

I know the 2600 has double the L2 cache of 512kb. Will that make a big difference in gaming? After buying and reselling old cpu, ill be out of maybe 20 or 30 bucks, so no biggie. Also, is it difficult swapping out CPU's? I think I saw it done on TechTV,and they needed some cpu glue or something. Is this the case. Do I have to reinstall the OS to have compatibility? Anobody with CPU knowledge, please help. I have looked all over for benchmarks with 2200 and 2600 using G4s.

If you're just losing 20-30 dollars, then yes, it is very well worth upgrading. 400 can make a bit of a difference and double the cache can also make a bit of a difference. FPSwise, I don't think you'll "see" the difference. But load times maybe faster. And installing your CPU? I don't think it would be a good idea for you....
