I've got an Xbox with an X3. Its hooked up to my HDTV and when it turns on, it boots to the Avalaunch dash at 1080i. I turned on the built in Avalaunch DVD player so it would play my DVDs. I noticed the output mode does not change when the DVD starts to play and it remains in 1080i. Is the Xbox upconverting like any store bought upconverting DVD player would or is something else going on here? Using the Xbox Media Player to play DVDs, it only plays them in 480i. I tried to use Xbox Media Center but for some reason it won't play DVDs so I've just been using the built in Avalaunch one.
Thats a good question, however I am fairly certian the xbox is not upcoverting DVD's to 1080i.... but I cannot be 100% It can play certian games at 1080i so maybe it is possible... Id love to know this as well since ive got my xbox on my hd plasma as well.
