Hey guys, i just bought a JVC receiver (RX-D402B) and a JBL home theater speaker system (SCS180.6S)and i was wondering if my speakers would work with my receiver because they have different ohms. My receiver says it runs @ 6 ohms but my speakers run @ 8 ohms. Is that a problem?

Note: on the back of the receiver, it states "Caution: Impedance 6ohms - 16ohms"

Hi there, your speakers and receiver will work just fine together. the rating on your receiver of 6 - 16 ohms means it will work with any speakers from 6 to 16 ohms, hook them up and enjoy!

rule of thumb... the lower the ohms on the speaker, the less the amp has to work to drive them. hence, better sounding speakers. also, the higher the rating of a speaker, (spl rating) the better the signal is reproduced.

    hope this sheds some light.
but if you receiver has an OHM setting, then set it to the speaker rating.
