    Hi all,
My daughter got me an XBox for my birthday, now never owning an XBox before I am trying to get used to it. I normally use the PS1 and PS2, so this is new to me.
Let me tell you what I have found so far:-
With the XBox came Unreal Championship Genuine disc,Fable genuine disc, Vol8 XBM genuine disc, and Sega GT2002 genuine disc, and Need 4 Speed Black Edition copied disc, and 50 Cent Bullet Proof copied disc.
The copied discs play ok not a problem I can also put a DVD vidoe and it will play that genuine or copied.

I have no idea what type of modding has been done to this XBox?

Is there a way to find out? The underneath it is obviouse that some one has been inside it.

On the opening page I see this lot.

    No Disc
    IP:No IP
    EvoX: 1.8.3752

    Free Space Per Partition
    C: 401.833.984
    E: 5.059.903.488
    F: 2.000.371.712
    X: 786.300.928
    Y: 48.562.176
    Z: 786.300.928

Then below its the menu system.

I have set the date and time on it but that's all I have done so far.
It plays MP3, I have an Internet connection that I use for the PS2 and I have plugged that in and I see nothing special there apart from the IP address.
I have been all through the menu systems to see what is there and all folders like videos , pictures and all that type of stuff are all empty.

I just need to know if it is modded and what type (it seems to me it is for playing copied discs)
Just how capable is this XBox I have?

    TIA,

    Mike.

It looks like a very standard softmod on a stock drive.

Its modded... if it can play copies and all that then its modded... ( obviously because no console would accept any copy to be played unless some modification has been made... ) You can try and open it to find o ut if theres a modchip... but no... wait... i think u can find out anyway if you switch off ur xbox but switch it back on with the Disc tray open button... that should boot up to the XBOX mod chip menu but if it doesnt.. i think its a softmod...

I have done as you said switched it on using the CD tray button the screen is the same as normal, so it looks like a soft mod.

    Thanks for the info.

If it boots up and shows the flubber screen and then a X with Microsoft at the bottom then it's the stock bios and your xbox is softmodded.

There should be an about tab in any of the dashboards. Also if it says evoX or unleash X or avalaunch or anything else that's what your xbox has for a dashboard.

If you want to upgrade the hard drive search tutorials, it's well worth your time.

If you need anything search first, and if you can't find it then ask.

    -------Edit------
I didn't catch that before i posted this message.

    EvoX: 1.8.3752

By the looks of it you have evolution x 1.8.3752, that's the version and name of your dashboard.

Another way to find out if its hard modded ( modchip ) is to go to settings and view the BIOS part of the settings.. if it says "Retail bios" or something along the lines.. its softmodded...

Have fun with ur XBOX... upgrade the Hard drive + Store games on the HDD... and have fun :)

Ohhh yes and I have to do the clock and time settings every single time I switch the XBox on, does it not have a RTC inside it?

    Sounds like a modchip!

Honestly though, what does it matter!? It's modded and it works, probably best to leave it alone!

    ;)
