How would I find that out mate? Do u think it could be a router problem since I did a reset. Also the menu bar says not connected. I'm in south of England only had the box 4 months.

Hi, nothing at all on ip setup all of the digits show zero, I've rebooted the router, reset sv6 & tried it all again following the e45 tut but still having no luck with it, after I scan the box it should reset itself but it's not doing so. It's still saying not connected on menu bar. At the sv6 LAN port I've got a mad flashing amber & a green that flashes about every 2 seconds. Thanks for your time!

When in IP set-up did you set to auto-connect. This will auto-assign an IP address to SV6
that will not conflict with Other IP addresses on router, laptop,PC,etc.
After you set auto-connect, save & exit. Then go back to IP set-up & check for IP address.
Screen NOT CONNECTED means box is not connected to internet. Why did you reset router, you may
have altered IP address on router by re-setting it.[/quote]

Hi, yes it was set to auto but when I click apply nothing happens. I've even tried entering the ip address etc manually but that's not helping either. I had to reset the router due to my wifi not working & that's what orange told me to do (I forgot the sv6 was on) so I know it's definatley not connected to the net & the sv6 isn't dead, just need to figure out how to connect the thing back up to the router arrgh, ashes in 3 days :-( lol

Check all IP settings on your computer network; PC, laptop, router, etc.
    Let's say your IP's are 192.168.0.1--192.168.0.2--192.168.0.3, etc.
Then enter 192.168.0.24 in SV6 IP. Enter same mac address in SV6 as on PC.
Disable the auto-connect to allow manual IP entry.
After you apply new settings exit, then go back in to IP set-up & check settings are still there.

darky, several months ago a friend of mine had similiar problem, his ip settings was blank as was his subnet mask,gateway,etc...we did manage to get it going after many attemps.you need to fill out those boxes manauly.to get that info go to start, press run type in cmd and hit enter, now type in ipconfig/all and hit enter.in there you will find your ip,mask, gateway, etc.now type the info into the relevant boxes but when you are putting your ip address in change the last three digits to something random like 340,also your user dns can be left blank,if you go to the thread starview 6 futureproof pages 12 to 14 all the info is there, cheers

not that randomly - you cannot go above 255,, use say between 100 to 200

    hi guys,
im still having no luck with it, i feel like reswob did several months ago!
    this is my DHCP ?

    LAN IP Address : 192.168.x.x

    Start IP address: 192.168.x.xx

    End IP address: 192.168.x.xxx

this is where i get a bit confused coz i did cmd and on there it says my IPv4 address was 192.168.x.xx (preferred) and i cant undertand why i have to change those last 3 digits? ive got the gateway, subnet mask & dns numbers all ok.

reswob i read all that info back in march & i have the exact same problem as you did. how did u know when it all worked did the menu bar say connected?
eamo_too when i type the details in manually i can come out of ip setup, go back in and its all still there. i then turn it off at the back but my bloody menu bar keeps saying not connected.

just want to say thanks for all your trying in helping me out chaps. fingers crossed i can sort it.

Darky, when you flashed the box with the latest firmware, did you do a factory reset on box after the flash and then scan and then connect to the router?

You are nearly there. You have entered gateway, mask, & dns values exactly as they are on PC.
Your PC IP is 192.168.x.xx. So if you enter 192.168.x.xx in SV6 IP that should do it. Don't
forget to click on apply. After you reboot box menu bar will show connected. Good luck

    hi mickah,

no i didnt, im following the e45 tut exact, but ive found myself resetting the box, re flashing etc 4 or 5 times now. once ive flashed once do i need to keep doing it after every factory reset?

eamo_too ive tried what u suggested but menu bar still says not connected. im typing it all in maually and clicking apply. when u say 'reboot' do u mean just switching the box off at the back? will it take a while to find the router ?

its so ennoying coz the 1st time i did it 4 months ago it worked perfectly.
    cheers fellas.

Chaps I don't feel like I'm nearly there I'm feeling like taking the box outside & smashing it up.lol. I've tried my actual ip address I've tried 192.168.x.xx I've tried other numbers too. Mind you it is setting the user dns itself to 205.xxx.x.xx why it's doing that I have no clue. I'm close to giving up but your all keeping me going as I believe I'm nearly there. I can see all the chans but they just say scramble obv coz the net isn't connected yet. Why it can't automatically connect itself is beyond me. If I get it sorted I will send u all a bunch of flowers.ha. Thanks again everyone I know I'm probly 1 of them ennoying newbies!

You don't need to re-flash after fac.reset, just do an auto scan.
When you Start-run-cmd-IP config/all,note all IP values, mac,& gateway.Post them here.
SV6 mac & gateway will be exactly the same, make sure to enter every dot correctly.
SV6 IP has to be 192.168.x.? Because your gateway is 192.168.x.xx
The only variable in SV6 IP is the last number. It can be a 1,2, or 3 digit number.
In your case it has to be a 2 or 3 digit number between 10 & 150 but can't be same as any
other IP on your home network. You have tried 24 as last no. in SV6 IP. & it filled in user
DNS box. That suggests router is talking to SV6.
Take a step back & check in NETWORK that U-stream is selected
Then Accessory-8989-key edit Make sure auto-updates are on.
Now go to IP setup & try auto-connect one more time. If that fails manually fill in values.
Try 24 as last no. in SV6 IP. Then try 23, or 58, or 104, or 124. Try any last no. you like
once it doesn't conflict with any other IP nos. Don't forget to hit apply each time.
After every time you try connect to router reboot box & look for CONNECTED on TV screen when
    you change channel on SV6.
Whatever it takes you can't let it beat you now. I am sure a conf.setting on your router
could be altered to solve your problem, but I am not familiar with orange livebox router

the ethernet adapter at the back of the box...wiggle it about a bit to get a snugger fitting and try a different ethernet cable...this usually sorts the problem out..regards
