Its a F**KING nightmare!!! Had the card 3 days, trawling every forum on DVB-C card trying to get information, just got the transcoder.ini file from the guy I bought the card from.
Gonna give it another go tonitht. My advice is unless you know what you are doing or find someone willing to hold your hand through the entire process, buy a DVD Recorder and attach it to your Starview box.
    More updates tomorrow.

Finaly cracked it last night. Got my DVB-C PC card to access the free to air chanels. Now I need to apply the program to decrypt the encrypted chanels.
Basicly when you buy a DVB-C card it is like buying a Starview box with no software, no information of frequencies, qam's or symbol rates. You have to manualy with a rather large ini file tell the card what to scan for. Not only that most of the software like DVBviewer is realy written for DVB-S cards as it comes with all the information for Hotbird and Astra, you have to import the cable TV info.
This has taken me a week of surfing forums (mostly in german, and the only german I understand is from dodgy 1970's porno movies) and chasing many dead ends.
Now I am starting to understand how these cards work, I will pass on the information to who ever wants to know.

    Happy bunny now :)

Good work on that maybe make a tut and put it up on the eko site at the bottom of the post so all will be able to access it and read it if they want once again fair play you stuck at it while many others would have binned it

Oh I came so close to throwing it against the wall, but the cost of the card £60 stopped me.
Yeah Once I have cracked the wathcing encryped chanels I will put a document up.

The whole procedure is piss easy.
Install the BDA drivers for the card, install progdvb and select BDA device, open the 0000.ini in progdvb/transponders/cabfiles with a editor and overwrite frequencies and symbol rate with the right ones from a dbox2 services.xml for your aera.
Download s2emu with keys from the net. Copy s2emu.dll and softcam.key to progdvb/plugins.
Start progdvb, go to settings -> diseqc, select the entry for the card and click properties. Select cable (dvb-c).
Go to channels and start a scan.
    Ready.

The internet is full of upload centres with emus, keys and included readme files.
Every 8 year old school boy is able to setup such a card by his own.

    Cheers Fergusrb,
You have always helped users like me, especialy when I was having problems with the key changes and firmware on my Starview box.
Bit shocked by the coments by Mgb17, this forum has been one of the very few places where users don't get flammed.

If someone is not able to copy 4 files to the right folders something must be wrong.
If someone is too lazzy to read any readme file he maybe get your support.

The initial setup need the copying of 3 or 4 files to the correct folder and thats it.
Thats the level I'm talking about.

not everyone is computer literate, or able to understand everything in a readme file. your first line should read "If someone is not able to explain things to people without being rude, patronising or condescending something must be wrong".

g0atb0y - please let's be more careful of the disguised profanities, cheers.
