Is there special software or hardware needed? What's the cheapest option? Thanks for the help!

The only way I can think of is doing it the slow way. Theres a program called 'Goldwave' its free just search it you should be able to find it. That program allows you to record audio that is playing on your computer, or through the mic jack. So take one of those double ended headphone looking cables and put one end in the mic jack and the other in your XM headphone jack and record it with goldwave. Save and convert the file to .mp3 and you should be good to go.

You might want to try looking somewhere else on how to get files off of your player [assuming you have them recorded on the player] As that isn't my particular specialty and there may be a much easier option.
