does windows media have a codec for ipods or is there something like itunes that is any good? Im just sick of itunes.
No, Windows Media Player does not have a specific codec for itunes/ipod. The file format Windows Media Player uses is it's own-WMA file. Music encoded by this cannot be used by itunes/ipod but itunes will transcode to AAC so it can be played. I do not believe the reverse is true however(AAC can be played by a windows media file) You might want to try WinAmp if displeased with itunes or widows media player. There are also others as well-Foobar, etc.. Also, I try to only use mp3 file format for all my music as there are no digital rights management issues and can be played across just about every media player including itunes. Just a thought, as if you have bought from itunes it can generally only be played on itunes/ipod.
