Is this a nero problem?

everytime i try to burn a dvd in nero, i have only tried nero, it comes up with power calibration error and starts making strange noises, so can anybody tell me if this is nero and what i can do, or if so recommend another dvd burning program?
PS i am burning dvd video files .VOB

 

Check for a firmware update.

Try changing media (Verbatim for choice)

Try 'ImgBurn'

Run ImgBurn
Mode > 'Build'
Output > 'Device'
File > 'Browse for Folder', highlight on the 'VIDEO_TS' folder, > 'OK'
Click the green write button.

 

thanks but its the drive i think its gone (i am using verbatim) i tried with another program and it failed and made strange noises
