Is this a problem of the dvd player?

I burned the same movie onto two different DVD-Rs. TDK and Universal DVD-Rs. They will both play on my pc and on a Philips player, but they both speed up then freeze in the same exact spot with an Initial player(less than a minute into the movie). The video also plays fine from my hard drive.

Check your players compatability in your manual and online, a computer dvd-rom is much more accepting of burned discs, if your player is supposed to be compatible try different media, some standalones can be very picky good luck

It doesn't say anything about dvd-r in my manual, but this web-site says it should play dvd-r: http://www.betasptodvd.com/dvd-r.htm

Why would two different dvd-r brands freeze in the same spot? I can press the 'next chapter' button and it will continue from where it froze.

I just noticed that it freezes everytime it starts a new chapter. Why does the dvd-r have more chapters than the original dvd?

What speed did you burn at? I've seen that happen with audio discs if you burn too fast.

1x speed. My burner will only burn at 1x.

I think I fixed the freezing. It still freezes in one spot but it will continue without having to press the next chapter button. I posted what I did in the 'Making your own Chapter List' thread.
