http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en/landing/translateforanimals/ Claims to be able to translate animal talk to human. Is this for real?
i hear they will be introducing translation to pig latin, because pigs can learn i easier.oh crap i just cant do this.lol.
well for 1 thats got to be fake. The only way to really test it would be to try it on a dog or cat that you understand.I know with some dogs they can give you a look and make a noise and you can understand what they want.
Sorry I can't let this go on. xboxdvl2, are you being sincere?! I am rather concerned ps3lvanub is too. This was Google's April Fool from 2010. Seriously, WTF people?!
Glad its an april fools joke cause i know it wouldnt work.the main way to tell what an aminal wants is body language.
For example, i understand that this dog is looking at you and saying "Seriously, you just said that? ORLY WTF"...
Lol...I tried that app out for a laugh...try "turtle" translation. There is also a variant of this app that "translates" for babies, but I can't remember what it was called. Reminds me of an old simpsons episode.
Is it still available on the Market? I uninstalled it the same day (April 1st) and thought they'd just take it down after! I remember that Simpsons episode!
I feel like a right prat now. Naturally I don't have an Android phone and therefore I missed the joke. I may go and get a felt tip pen and write gullible on my forehead...
oh come on.... animals communicate with each other ffs! haven't you ever listened to a couple of cats interact? .. then they come and talk to us as well. Just because we are too stupid to understand them doesn't mean they don't have quite high level language skills.. after all.. they manage to learn quite an amount of ours so which is the thick animal here?
i think the point is that animals dont have and never will have real language skills.they are just not built that way.take this for what it is....a joke.
LoL...cats don't understand language; only tone...say, "I hate you you worthless fleabitten animal" in a nice tone and the cat will purr. As for most turtles, I don't think they make noise at all.
I love how humans think they are SOOOOO superior when in reality we are just another mammal.. we have language so where the hell did we get it from?.. our ape ancestors perhaps? Teach a gorilla sign language and they teach it to their offspring, they even use it in their own way addressing their own needs and concepts. How about different human languages? .. just because you don't understand them does that make them not relevant and those who speak them mere animals in your eyes? Animals have and use their own languages.. they understand them perfectly among themselves.. how much of human face to face language is just sounds and how much is conveyed with facial expression and tone? New studies expose more and more animal communication skills every day.. pigs for instance use different sounds when humans are present to the ones they use when alone.. they also use different sounds directed towards humans... sounds they never use towards other pigs. Use your eyes and ears and it becomes obvious very quickly that animals do have and do use language.. A cat will use a "greeting" sound along with body language both with members of their human group and also the same sound with members of their cat family group... but they NEVER use it towards human or cat strangers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_communication
i can understand when a dog looks at me and scratches the back door it wants to go out.if a dog drops a toy at my foot and whinges and keeps glancing at the toy and me usually means it wants me to pick up the toy and play.My mum had a poodle that would stare at us when we were talking,i know the dog was trying very hard to understand what we were saying.some animals will attempt to communicate with people and sometimes you can understand what they want.
Some animals can learn some words, and a few of the smarter apes can even do sign language (and they could probably speak if they had the appropriate voice cords). However, dogs are limited to a few dozen phrases, and cats can only remember their names if you teach them to associate the name with feeding time (in which case, they just think that that name means, "Food"). As for turtles...no one cares what they have to say.
Actually, they make a high pitched squeaking sound... they often do it when hungry. At the risk of sounding padantic, that is a tortoise (note the curved shell). Turtle's shells' are relatively flat so they can swim through the water.
