Why the need to use the word "gay"? Where does homosexuality come into it? You guys need to think about what this forum is about before treating it like a kiddies chatroom!

Lethel; I believe the younger generation is using the word gay now days to describe something/someone who is weird, retarted or just not normal...I could be wrong though I am just an old fart!

I am myself young, and I know exactly how it is being used. I know Dombo probably means it harmlessly. However, consideration has to be taken to the wider audience, as juggling someones sexuality with something "weird, retarted or just not normal" could quite easily offend.

Gay is an adjective meaning "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy", however in modern usage, gay is a word usually used, as either a noun or adjective, to refer to homosexuals; persons sexually oriented toward members of their own gender.

"Gay", used as an adjective, sometimes describes traits associated with both gay men and lesbians, their culture, or perceived lifestyle. The term lesbian, on the other hand, is used exclusively in a gender specific way to describe homosexual females.

Ireland, I have been around long enough to know what "gay" is,unfortunetly the younger crowd does not use the term in that manner.
