Hey Guys, My life sucks. Today i recieved my new iSkin Evo 3 and quickly put it on my iPod and did everything as delicately as i could. Now, when i turned it on to see how it looked ev erything was cool. I even plugged in my headphones and tried to listen, when i got to the song it never started playing and then started making a really weird clicking noise. It was weird, all in rythym. I then quickly reset my ipod and when i rebooted i got the FrownyFace Ipod thing (which is never good) i turned it off and then from then on whener i boot it it shows the file error thing and then turns off. But heres something weird- when it turns off it makes this weird like hiss noise. I did connect it to a power supply and that did nothing, i have know computer this week because it is in the shop (im on my moms) I have no idea what to do and i really want my ipod. I am no newb so dont think ihavent tried everything i know of. PLese Help. I want my ipod. CG
Hi CG. I don't believe the iSkin has caused or contributed to your situation in any way. The 'sad iPod' icon, together with the hard drive murmours generally only mean one thing - hard drive errors. I suggest you take it to your local Apple store and get it checked over. If there is a problem, then you may have to leave your iPod with them until the issue is rectified. Be sure to take proof of purchase..
Hey Lethal, Can the apple stores do the same thing as sending it in to tech support? I have called tech support and they want me to mail it in and i will possibly get a new iPod or they will fix my current one. If the apple store can do this, i probobly wont lose my iPod for 2 weeks. That would be nice. CG
ya...took it to the apple store and in 5 minutes i had a brand new iPod. Pretty nice considering the scratch i had on my old on. lol. I love warranties. CG
hey i have had a lot of problems with my ipod (60GB Video - Black) at the beginnind. Twice it broke from copying files on and a screen saver coming up (but i got a return from the shop i bought it from cos they thought it was broken from the box). when i recently tried ipod linux on the 5G (pls people dont laugh...) i realised AFTERWARDS that 5G is not compatible yet! but one thing you should always try, open the ipod updater (can be downloaded from apple.com) and try using that. that always solves any software problems (since it just swipes out anything from the ipod and replaces it with complete new firmware). also, even if some crazy things happen (like my experience with accidentaly having had the 3G firmware on my ipod), the ipod updater still solves it aslong as it notices the ipod (which i think it always does). the only way u cant fix it urself is if there are hardware problems (well you can try and open it but good luck lol). if it doesnt even connect to your pc (which happened to me twice..) then theres little chance of fixing it. i tried different cables, firmware updates, third party ipod software updates and none recognised it since most files were screwed up completely. Another good tool to use here is USBView (i think its called) where you can view all devices pluged into the USB ports and ofcourse use the device manager or Everest to view if your pc recognises your ipod as an ipod or other sort of mass storage device anyway, this might have not helped you but plug it in, see if its recognised and if it is then run the updater ASAP. if its not recognised then good luck! kyle
