Hello, I don't know if this is the right area to pose this question or not. Anyways, here's my problem. While I was in Iraq, I was sent a bunch of football games that my father put on dvd for me on his stand alone dvd player. Well, he apparently didn't finalize the dvd-r's. To make things worse, his dvd recorder bit the dust. Through research, I found isobuster and it was able to extract the files in .iso format. I am unable to go any further though to extract the .vob files. Winrar and dvd shrink also will not open these files. I have also had isobuster extract the files in .tao format, then convert them manually to .iso and same result. This goes for all 8 discs he sent me. Is there any hope in repairing these .iso files? Or anything I can do to recover the video files from the dvd-r's? Sorry if this has been asked, I couldn't find anything regarding this. Thank you and God bless.
the vobs should be contained in the iso. the iso is an image file. you should be able to burn the iso straight up(finalize) and be fine. btw... open the iso with winrar, and it will show you whats in the iso. or you could mount the iso with daemon tools or alcohol, and actually play the files.
isobuster should open a proper made dvdr as shown files in front of you isobuster makes an iso i think because it cant get in if you see what i mean, you should be looking at folders in isobuster called VIDEO_TS / AUDIO_TS... which you can open like explorer, if your not it dont look good... try nero on finalize or tmpgenc dvd author (long shot) as if the files were seen i think you may have dvd VR format if created by a stand alone dvd recorder --------- side note: if you pop disc in pc can you open files from my computer / drive link with explore? --------- could try another standalone to finalise due to VR format
I would definitely try to scrutinize the file for playback prior to burning. If file is still intact, VLC should be able to play it with no problems.
