Is it possible to write (or read for that matter) an iso image with Recode 2? Or is that a difference between it and Shrink?

Recode as ISO image? Recoding is used for video and an ISO is a image of a CD/DVD. If the CD/DVD contains video you want to recode, then use a program that can extract the files from the ISO (like UltraISO for example)

Let me ask a different way. With shrink, I can make an iso image as the final product (instead of a bunch of dvd files) and then burn it with dvd decrypter or imgburn. My question is can I do the same thing with Nero Recode 2 (the point is I would like to use the same programs for burning)? Also with Shrink you could open an iso image directly without using a different program. Can I also do this with Nero Recode 2 (instead of just dvd files)? Thanks.

yes u can do that with nero
ur second post made it clear what you wanted to do,the first one confused me

at the last step before u start burning with recode 2, it asks you to select your burner, giving u the following options
    Hard disk
Cd/dvd burner thats available, one or more
    image burner

chose the image burner and u can make an .iso file of the project

I tried that last night with trying to backup "The Cave".

I built myself a little machine that I decided to use for my backups, not the fastest thing, but it takes the stress off my main machines CPU. Anyway, I used DVDRemake Pro to remove the the ADs/Trailers, etc. I then used Nero Recode to Encode the files and burn them to an ISO image, which then I transfered that ISO file to my main machine that has my DVD burner in it and burned the movie using Nero burning Rom, but the disc would not play.

Wouldn't trying to use Recode to burn the ISO file just re-encode the file again before it burns it?

    okay tell me one thing
were u trying to play that dvd in ur dvd player or on the pc, cuz that burned image will only contain a .mp4 video file which should be playable on a pc and not a dvd player
cuz to burn a dvd u need to encode it into a dvd and the best option would be to just make a copy of the original dvd "even if it has ad's"

okay if you your trying to make a backup of that dvd with the ad's removed, start nero recode 2 and on the main page you get 5 options, choose the third option and you can remake a dvd and remove subtitles and extra stuff,

as i've never used dvdremake pro i don't know what the output file is after u edit the video
IF IT IS a single video file then start nero start smart, enable the advanced options, choose dvd from the top, go over video and photo, choose the third option "MAKE YOUR OWN DVD-VIDEO" and then u can just make a dvd, at the end u can choose to burn to a image recorder, btw choose 2-pass encoding for better quality, but takes much longer,

anyways i dont see why u would do the above, if dvd remake pro gives u .vob and .ifo files then under the same page in nero startsmart, under video and photo, last option is burn dvd-video files, choose that and i believe it should work.

OK, I'll see what I can do. I've backed up Wedding Crashers using DVDD, Then DVDRemake to edit, then Shrink to encode/backup but not in ISO mode. Maybe I should not try making a DVD ISO
