I'm trying to make a back up of the 1st disc to The Sims 2. Now i found that it's using Safedisc 2 via A Ray. I made an ISO from Alchol %120 and when i load the image onto the "virtual drive" it works great. When i burn the image onto a disc (i have a 2 sheep burner) it doesn't work well. It displays the Sims 2 loading screen and then it stops. It won't go past that.
(thanks to CDMediaWorld for this article on Safedisc v.2) Currently there are 2 ways available of dealing with this protection: - [bold] SafeDisc Emulators[/bold] Create a 1:1 CD-Copy and then use DAEMON Tools, PlayBackup or Insektors to remove the protection from the game! - [bold] Executable UnWrappers[/bold] unSafeDisc or DumPlayerx can extract the real executable from the encrypted .ICD file, just replace the existing .EXE and burn it back to a CD-R or replace it after the game installation. If your CD-Reader & CD-Writer both supports DAO RAW + Sub-Channel data then just do the 1:1 CD-Copy. If not, use the [bold] DAEMON Tools, PlayBackup, Insectors, unSafeDisc [/bold] or [bold] DumPlayerx [/bold] to play the game! Try latest CloneCD 5.0.2.1 release? Protection ID Scanner shows The Sims 2 (CD 1\USA version) is Safedisc 3.20.020 cd protected. I mounted The Sims 2 (CD 1) via Daemon Tools and the game runs smooth sailing. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109110 _X_X_X_X_X_[small]MSI KT6V-LSR MS-7021 AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (OC'd to 3200+) 1 Gig Corsair XMS PC3200 (OC'd DDR 400) MSI MS Starforce nVidia GeForce FX5500(256 DDR) Maxtor ATA\133 200 gig Lite-ON LTD165H DVD-ROM Lite-ON LDW411S DVD-Burner[/small]
