I have a lot of music that was either ripped or converted using iTunes and I only recently realized that it is locked or something. I first wanted to open it in Adobe Audition, audio editing software and could not; then I tried another audio converter which could not open it either. Lastly, I tried to open it with a hex editor, for kicks, and that didn't work either. This occurs with all music that was encoded by iTunes. I was wondering if any of you have noticed the same thing, and if any of you have suggestions for how I can edit these songs.
I thought music from iTunes was only encoded if you bought it from the online store and not music you rip yourself. What extension are the copy protected files? Are they .mp4 or .m4a
The extension does not seem to matter, I have files encoded in mp3, wav, and wma and none of them are editable.
