Ok I am back! I had a problem with iTunes earlier this week and then it lead to bigger virus related issues which I have solved. I thought this would take care of my iTunes problem, but it still exists, so here is the problem again if anyone can help that would be great. I had Quicktime on my laptop and then tried to install iTunes. I got an error message; "The installation of Quicktime did not complete sucessfully. iTunes requires Quicktime." I took QT off my computer, did all the usual registry cleaning and whatnot and tried again. Same error. I have repeated this about ten times now. I have been on microsoft and apple's sites and done everything they recommended. I still get this error message immediately every time. Please help so I can use my ipod.
ok well as an update to the no people who are reading this thread, I did get itunes 5.0 to install because it doesn't come with quicktime 7. Then my plan was to update all the software and that would leave me with itunes 7 and quicktime 7. Well, quicktime updates fine and itunes does not, basically because its the same freaking installer that I have had trouble with all along. Does anyone know how I can update to 7.0 without using this same installer? Going through the program (selecting "update itunes" in the menus) has no effect whatsoever. It checks for updates, tells me I need to update to 7.0 and would I like to and when I click "yes" nothing happens.
I unfortunately don't know the answer to your question, but that other people have posted about having the same problem. And for all I know it went unresolved, or they never told us how it was fixed. You might want to contact Apple about it, hopefully they are working on it. I had had the problem where quicktime would not install, but I just clicked OK I believe on the error message and it worked anyway. I don't really remember to well what happened but iTunes works fine for me, and plays videos without any problems.
yeah i have been over in the apple forum and HOLY JAYSUS you should see all the issues with iTunes 7. There are lots o' peeps who can't upgrade or install it, and then others who do get it installed then it doesn't work. I hope apple is on it, because of xmas and all the ipods gifted to people, their phone lines are inundated with calls about iTunes 7 and they have stopped helping people with iTunes problems, only people with actual ipod problems. Tho for me an iTune prob = an ipod prob cuz you can't use one without the other. I'll wait a bit longer and then call and hopefully something will have changed. Thanks for posting!
