iXtreme 1.5 to 1.6 upgrade

    I had a local guy I found on Kijiji put 1.5 on my box so I could preserve my originals. I recently purchased Tiger Woods 2010 and my backup on a verb disc won't play. I know I need 1.6. My question is when this guy soldered a wire between two points on my drive (said he didn't need a "spear" or anything)and left it there can I now flash the drive with only a SATA cable? Thanks in advance. I have read many threads but cannot find anything to help me without bugging someone who knows what I'm talking about. Take care.
