In backing up my originals, I was able to copy disk 1 (movie) with no problem. Then after I used DVDFab HD and then shrink for the bonus disk, I got a 'runtime C++ error' in shrink. I tried Imageburn and shrink, errors (I think read allocation?). I tried Imageburn and Nero to burn and got about 70% and it stopped due to an error. The bonus disk is about 7gigs. I tried Imageburn with a dvd-dl and got a layer popup that made me not go any further as I did not want to waste another dvd-dl. Anydvd has expired so I am out of luck there. Is there another way for me to try and back up my bonus disk. Or am I not using the right combos/ should just burn the dvd-dl with Imageburn.

Its the collector's edition. I'm guessing it is older. The runtime only gave me an issue with this particular dvd. I have backed up 6 of my other dvds after I got the error. Will it still be necessary to reinstall the file. I will give the other programs a try as well.

There is encryption on this bonus disc (C0:32:84:8B:65 with shrink). I tried the RI4M->FixVTS->Shrink->ImageBurn combo (ISO image created) and while burning with imageburn it got to 97% then gave me an error. Should the Nero 1:1 of the Iso image be my method of burning. I ask because I am trying to avoid a stack of coasters.

Did you try to burn it on a single layer or double layer disc? For single layer Nero is okay, but for double layers ImgBurn is to be used. If burning a DL, I would save the DVD structure to a folder on your HDD and burn with ImgBurn in build mode-this way ImgBurn creates the ISO and sets the layer break.

What kind of media did you use? How fast did you burn? Poor quality media or burning too fast can lead to a failed burn. Do you have an error log?

Midnight here! I personally never used ImgBurn. I read in a post that is a good riprer, works well with bad discs. Did you ever used it as a ripper ?

imgburn doesnt rip when the guy made dvd decrypter first he got shot down by officials and had to stop and take down his website so he made imgburn with no ripper to be legal... and concentrates on burning, i use imgburn all the time for iso files of dvd's.

By ripping I mean DVDs that are not protected.I definetely know it cannot decrypt. For example,in "Build Mode", can you select the input source as your DVD-ROM and copy/save the ISO to HDD?
I guess I could install it and test it myself:~)!

Sorry for the late reply but I had success using RI4M(and others) and burned with image burn. I payed more attention to the programs and settings this time and it worked. Thanks for all your help.

    what settings worked for you?

I let RI4M run its course, then I used Nero on a single layer as cyprusrom suggested. As far as my settings comment the only thing different was that I checked the 'in place (no backup)' box with FixVTS. Maybe I was getting a bad save to my HDD. I also had to turn off my screensaver so I could see what was going on.
