Tmpgenc will Only select the Correct field Order and Picture Type when you use the "Project WiZard" to load in your Files...You will Notice when you use the Wizard to load in Interlaced Files it will scan your file for the Correct field order and then set it accordingly, If you don"t use the Wizard then it will not select the Correct settings it just leaves them at the Default settings....

Tmpgenc Xpress Analizes every file for the Correct field order .....

thanks for the replies, but when i select the 2 .avi files in TMPGEnc and start to encode, there always seems to be an error 50% through encoding procedure, as if it is not progressing to 2nd .avi file, any more ideas would be appreciated or advice on other software that converts 2 seperate avi files to 1 single mpeg file for preparation to put onto dvd.

Well if you can"t get Tmpgenc to Encode your Files as a single Mpeg file then you can allways Encode each File seperately and then use Tmpgenc"s "Merge & Cut" feature to join the 2 files into One Single File...

Or you can use Virtual-Dub to join the 2 AVI files into a Single File and then encode that with Tmpgenc...

Are you sure that Tmpgenc is Loading the 2 Files as a Single File??
You know that if you want to get Tmpgenc to load 2 seperate files in as a Single File the 2 files have to be Named in a Sequential order, Like this "Movie-001.avi ,Movie-002.avi " and you have to have the "Load Sequentioal files as Movie" option in the "Enviromental Settings" Plus the 2 Files have to have the exact same Properties....

    Good luck
