agter using the search and not finding anything i need to know how to join 2 .avi files. maybe the string i was using was wrong but i couldnt find anything. i have something on my pc which is aplit into 2 files and since im lazy i just throw files onto dvd and watch em on xbox media center so i dont bhave to bother encoding anything. when i have 2 files it stops playing at the end of the first and wont play the second. i really need to know how to join 2 files.

virtual dub is an excellent program for splitting and joining avi files (and probably heaps more). Just remember to set video option to Direct Stream Copy.

You simply open your first file, then go to File/ Append and select 2nd.

You then go File/ Save as Avi. I was going 'Save segmented file' and it produced an unreadable file, but know that I know what I'm doing I'm make to loving virtual dub.
