i have searched the forum and found many questions about joining avi files but none that help me with this problem I have 3 AVI files with AC3 sound I want to encode them to SVCD with Canopus procoder( i love the quality of this encoder over tmpgenc and i don't have CCE) procoder wont accept AC3 so usually i rip out the sound with virtuadub and convert it with headache and rejoin it then encode away, but since this is a 3 part AVI i'm not sure what to do. should i perform the sound conversion with headache as described above on all 3 parts then join using the append feature in virtuadub (I want to feed procoder one big file so the file split isn't awkward)does anyone know if I will encounter sound sync problems this way? or even better does anyone have any suggestions on how i might make the whole procedure simpler?? Many TIA _X_X_X_X_X_[small]it takes dedication to learn and ignorance to fail[/small]
You can do the following albeit archaic process to at least link the three ac3 files. Under MSDOS window (that's right)use the following commmand/example: copy /b inputfile1.ac3+inputfile2.ac3+inputfile3.ac3 outputfile.ac3 launch the command from the directory in which the three files are located. Now I've got a different problem that basically revolves around the fact that when you demux an ac3 file from an avi file in vdubmod and then try to remux it back into the same file again (without any editing) it's no longer the same banana. Do you or anyone else have an idea how to correct that?
Why Can"t you Join the 3 Files useing Virtual-Dub?? Use "Decompress.exe" on the Files first and it will convert the AVI with AC3 to AVI with PCM audio and then use V-Dub to Join the 3 Files together and then encode in Procoder..After decompressing the audio in the AVI file use Virtual Dub to check the "File Information" and see if the audio and Video are the same Length or Close enough, if they are the same Length when you Join them you shouldn"t have Problems and if the Files are not the same Length then use V-Dub to cut one KeyFrame off the end of that File which should fix the Lenth so you don"t get Sync problems....Cheers If you Install this : AC3ACM Decompressor http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/AC3ACM.zip Virtual-Dub will be able to decode the AC3 audio and so will Tmpgenc and Maybe even Procoder...
THX again Minion as always usefull advice i went a verry long route to acheive that end and it was a nightmare next project i will follow your advice and am very interested in the decompressor you provided thx again
