Am planning to use VirtualDub to join many avi files. The problem is, I want to put at least 5 episodes in one cd. there are a total of 24 episodes and I heard that VirtualDub can only join two avi files. Is that true? Could it join at least two or more avi files?
Why are you joining them to put them on a cd? To me it seems pointless to do (join them), maybe you have a good reason.
I think he means DVD, not CD. Anyway, there is no reason to 'join them together', so to speak. You can use Nero Vision Express to author a dvd with more than one AVI file on it, and create a menu too if desired.
thank you ripper. What I really meant is dvd. I didn't know that Nero vision express is the right place to do it.
This is really weird. I can only put 3 episodes in one DVD. Each episode is just 145mb. I know for a fact that I could at least, put 4 or 5 episodes in a 4.7GB dvd disc. Anyone know why it takes so much space? *it reached 4.2GB with only 3 episodes, each of 145mb file size.
It's becos the video data is "uncompressed" from the avi when it's put onto a dvd. NVE does offer the option to reduce quality in order to fit more on (slightly).
ok, so thats why.. Is there any way that I could at least put 4-5 episodes in a 4.7GB dvd without reducing the quality?
To expand on geestar's answer, by making a DVD-9 disk (Dual Layer) you're able to fit more data on.. 8.5GB or so.
No, 8gb wont fit on a 4.7gb disk (which btw only holds 4.38gb). Duh. What we're saying, is that if you want to fit more on, without loosing quality, you need Dual Layer discs which can hold about 8.5gb.
I kinda knew that but I asked if I could still fit more episodes in a 4.7GB dvd disc. Look at my previous post.
If the border line goes up to 8gb, then you have the target dvd size set wrong for a single layer disc. You can fit more episodes (well, a few) if you are willing to loose quality.
