What is the best program to join files? I'm using the trial version of AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Joiner v4.82 right now and it works very well. Is there a program better than this....and not too expensive?
i was using a program called VSO DIVX to DVD and you just add the first file then add the second file and it will convert them into 1 dvd.
lets be a bit clearer It will convert the files to mpeg2 which is the compatible format for burning to dvd disc.Depending on the size of your converted files will mean you will need to adjust whether you put them on a dual layered disc or risk poorer quality by compressing them to fit on to a single layered disc
There are many freeware tools that will join files for you but my results have always been so-so (including avi joiner, not free). I already had TMPGEnc Plus (TMPGEnc should be the same) installed and used that to join the mpg files. I have joined many files and it's never failed yet and also removes any overlap at the join but only joins mpg (takes about 15 min.). If you wish to try it, open TMPGEnc, close wizard, main window>File>MPEG Tools>Merge and Cut. Then, just author and burn the merged file.
if you just want to merge the files, after you have encoded then ,select nero recode. One of its options is to merge files together.
I went the route that you suggested. Since I'm not trying to put them on to a DVD, just join them, I'm going to use Nero Recode...since that is a program that I already have. Once again, thanks for the help!
make sure you select your hard drive instead of (disc)BURNER after you merge the files together then.
