i download my files in avi or mp4 format as im only on 512. which is the best software out there for joining the files together without messing it up so i can convert it to go on a single cdr?? i have tried using winavi an selected 800meg but it ends up giving me 1 file with say 800meg and another file with say 50-60 meg and then i cant put it on to a single cdr. is there any software out there that will compress an mpeg file to 800 meg so i can burn on single cdr? any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can join AVIs with VirtualDub http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/virtualdub_join_avi.cfm , and you can join 2 MPEGs, but Size (1+2) = size 1 + size 2, and since you're speaking of 800 + 50-60 MB, the joined file fill not fit into a CD-R. Unless you add a new compression rate (using Video=Full Processing Mode in the guide above mentioned), but the quality will have to be reduced. Now you speak of mpegs and it is more difficult (if you're not mistaking). If you're speaking of MPEG-1, (VCD), the size is constant and the size is 10 MB x minute. If you speak of MPEG-2 (SVCD or DVD), it depends on the bitrate you choose (SVCD is VBR), but it is said that a bitrate with allows a decent quality is 55' for CD-R. Unless you go to KVCD files, and the discourses change (see the FAQ and the KVCD thread).
To join mpegs you can use TMPGenc File_MPEG Tools, Womble MPEG Converter [MPEG-VCR] ( http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/womble_mpeg_join_tutorial.cfm ) and many others. But you'll remain with the constraints above mentioned...
