jpg stills form an avi file

There must be a simple way to take individual frames from an .avi file and convert them to .jpg. Can someone help me? It's probably been posted, but I just can't find it.

I guess you can fix this problem by using : ACA Capture, you can download a free trial at : http://www.acasystems.com/en/screencapture/

This is a screen grabber and it will capture an image, but there is considerable loss of resolution. I'm trying to get at the individual frames that are part of an avi file.
