Hi everyone. I am new and have joined mainly to ask advice on the following: I copied a DVd and put it in my regular DVD read drive to play. I use sticky label to mark the disks and forgot to take the label off before putting it in. Dum move I know. It whirred and whined, before a loud scraping and grating noise and I ejected it. The label was still attached to the CD but a tiny bit ripped on the end. I tried all sorts to get it (the small piece of paper, 0.5cm at most) out of the drive, including vacuuming it. Eventually I opened up the PC and took out the drive, unscrewed it, and got out the bit of paper easily. BUT! Now when I play DVD's on the drive the playback is very skippy, only just watchable. The sound is odd too. They play fine on my second external DVD-RW drive though! Any suggestion as to what I could do to solve the problem? Thank you Harv.
Yessum boss. I dont like the sound of that, sounded to me like a death roar!! You could be cheeky if it's still under guarantee, IE try and blag a new one form the supplier, im devious & would definitely try that first!! If the guarantee has expired buy a new one, cos it sounds like your drive is bleedin demised!!, _X_X_X_X_X_[small]On Initial Viewing My Backup Looked Terrible, But With One Eye Closed It Aint Half Bad!![/small]
Oh no! It can't be! That sucks. No guarentee unfortunatly. It was a bit of a death roar... I thought it was gonna explode to be honest, and I was surprised it even played afterwards. Is there no way I could tinker with it?
well you could try..but honestly matey...it may be time to send it down the crematorium...and shove yer mit in yer pocket and get a new un..
