what speed are the dynex rated? reason i ask is that the 4x rated dvd-r are pure crap...with your choices of AML, AN31, CMC MAG AF1, VDSPMSAB 01, among other variations...with the ONLY decent one being the MCC 01RG20 coded ones, which is just a luck of the draw of you actually getting....

the 16x rated Dynex are RITEKF1 coded, which i personally haven't tried yet, so i can't give you an honest judgement on the quality, but they SHOULD be decent enough if you are only burning pictures and data backups as you stated...

the dvd+r format for Dynex is actually better with a few Ritek made discs in the bunch...RitekR03 for the 8x dvd+r and RICOHJPNR03 for the 16x dvd+r~ :)

i would run your dynex dvd-r through a dvd identifier program to see what you actually got, for YOUR sake, i hope you didn't get the 4x rated ones...

    docTY~
