I need to determine the type of internal DVD/RW burner I have. Can anyoone tell me what this means: Sony 04-D1 Hl-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA4040B I have a gateway desktop system & have been ripping with DVD shrink & Burning with NERO 6.0 beta(I think that's it). The last movie of mine I backed up successfully was Walt Disney's Aladdin. I then ripped Walt Disney's Dinosaur. But, when I went to burn it the process fails. I have tried ripping others successfully but if I try to burn them the same end result. The failed burn time takes forever before the drawer opens & I'm told the process failed. I have been using Sony DVD-R's. Ripped & burned to 20 of them with no problem. I think this may be a question for more than one forum but first I need to figure out what type of DVD drive I have, I guess. Unless someone has a quick answer. Anyone recognize the Sony notation above? Is it a Sony notation? Thanks
Go to My Computer/Control Panel. Scroll down and click on System. Then click on Hardware, then on Device Manager, then on DVD/CD-ROM Drives. Your DVD burner will be listed there. Write down the model name, then go to the manufacturer's website, and see if they have a firmware update for your burner. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Bruce Wallace Vietnam Vet - 1970 - 1971 3.06 Ghz Intel P4 CPU Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard 1Gig Corsair 3200 LLPro DDR Ram Plextor PX 708A DVD Burner Sony CRX320E DVD 16x + CD-RW 52x24x52 Combo ATI Radeon 9700 Pro Video Card Audigy2 Platinum[/small]
