After inadvertently inserting a DVD with Interactual Player programming, I have been unable to play any DVD on any player on my PC. Quick VCD will also not play vob's. I get "key exchange failure error message. I've searched MS and received "Bill Gate's Speeches" as a response! Or set monitor refresh at lower value. NOT any lower! Somehow I lost ability to de-encode encrypting. I have uninstalled and re-installed Mediamatics, uninstalled Interactual Player, upgraded Media Player to 9, rebooted, yelled, cursed and searched to no avail. Operating a Sony Vaio, XP Home OS, 512 MB Ram, 1.2 G Celeron Processor. NO SP1. Help! JRude (Hope I'm in the right Forum!)
You should install SP1. Also try a different DVD player and make sure Direct X is installed. If no luck you will need expert advice as all PC's should play DVD's from a DVD-Rom drive.
Thanks! As a last desperate attempt, I installed SP1! Have DirectX latest...Interactual Player did something...will have to R&R eventually. Got Power DVD player, but still can't play VCD's as they go through Media Player. Interactual Tech said they didn't know why the conflict existed. They should place warnings or info's on discs with PC Friendly programming! Be careful! Sony platforms do not like! Thanks for suggestions...I'm resigned *sigh* ...J.R.
Yes! Uninstall, re-install and uninstall again...Same with DVD Express! Even deleted ini files left behind...no avail! A detailed article is available on Interactual site prescribng several avenues of fix...all to no avail. Just a gross conflict. If you run a Sony VAIO platform with DVD Express as part of bundle...be careful! J.R.
Ha!Lost DVD Key Exchange?? Elecard Player 2.1 (Which I SWEAR I never installed!) had hijacked default DVD player status....Deleteing it restored DVD key exchange. Only saw because it's TRIAL (!?) ran out, displayed in Divx 2.1?? It installs as part of some applications...you may want to check in your programs Add/Delete in Control Panel. I had tried all other options I could find in forums, sites, and Authors. It did not start as default player, just cut others off! Just another option for those with same problem. Yippee! J.R.
