Keyboard crash with Windows Vista Home P

My keyboard keep flashing off and on again... Also keep making a beeping noise. The mouse still works but after I press that reset button in front of my pc to shut the pc down and start it back up, the pc won't go past the GATEWAY LOGO til 40mins later.

I know it's not the ram bc this never happen on windows xp media 2005 before. Also when I try to install update,the keyboard lights flashes on and off again and makes beep noises. I dont want to reinstall the OS because I have alot of movies and files on here. I have no backup discs or external harddrive. I can't do the reinstall with backup bc my pc wont allow me to do it.
